Peruvian exports of fruits and vegetables rose by 14% in 2020.

Horticultural exports from Peru in 2020 totaled more than $4,927,170,000, which is an increase of 14 % compared to $4,314,573,000 achieved in 2019, according to the Exporters Association (ADEX).
This success in both areas was driven by high international demand, because consumers increasingly pay more attention to the healthy properties and quality of products in times of pandemic.
Fruits achieved placements for $3,921,162,000 (+16 %). The grape led the ranking with $1,093,078,000 (+24 %) with a concentration of 28 %. Followed by blueberries with a FOB value of $ 963,774,000 (+17 %) and a 25 % share. Also avocado ($852,389,000), mango ($414,769,000) and mandarin ($260,097,000). The list was completed by the banana, pomegranate, lemon, tangelo and strawberry.
The United States was the main recipient of these fruits, totaling $1,539,364,000, and showing a 14 % increase in demand, and representing 39 % of the total exported. The Netherlands achieved $883,670,000, representing an increase of 16 % and a participation of 23 %; United Kingdom ($253,814,000), Spain ($200,686,000), Hong Kong,
Vegetable shipments achieved placements for $1,006,007,000, an increase of 8.6 %. Asparagus was the most exported ($523,992,000) despite contracting -4%, with a 52% share. Artichoke showed an increase of 7 %, totaling $134,053,000; ginger also grew 155 % ($105,590,000), also followed by onion, garlic, corn, among others.
The United States increased its demand by 9% ($520,628,000), with a representation of 52 %. Other destinations: Spain ($129,887,000) and the Netherlands ($83,406,000). The list was completed by Brazil, the United Kingdom and France, falling by -11%, -6%, and -2%, respectively.
