Increases of +33% to +205%the prices "walk in the clouds" according to some professionals.
According to information from SNIIM (Sistema Nacional de Información e Integración de Mercados) prices of some tropical fruits experience prodigious increases compared to prices recorded in the same period last year.
The palm for the largest increase returns to lemon (limón con semilla) with +205.2% compared to 2013 prices. For plantain bananas it is +41.67%, for mangoes +56.7%, for bananas +59%.
The reason for such an increase? climatic conditions have led to a decrease in production in several regions of the country. In the coming weeks, the SNIIM considers that the offer will still be limited resulting in maintaining the high prices.
