Peruvian production of mandarins/tangerines in the 2023/24 season is estimated at 550,000 tons (-4% year-on-year) with some 200,000 tons destined for export, according to the latest FAS/Gain report from the United States Department of Agriculture, USDA.
According to the report, shipments to the United States, the largest destination for Peruvian citrus, would decrease slightly to 121,000 tons.
The lower profitability derived from the increase in labor and transport costs, the erratic weather, the lack of fertilizers and containers will negatively affect production and exports.
