The Technological Fruit Consortium (Chile) presents 4 new varieties of raspberries: "Santa Guillermina", "Santa Eduvina", "Santa Isabel" and "Santa Rosa", which are added to the first 3 varieties of the Raspberry Genetic Improvement Program of the Consortium, “Santa Clara”, “Santa Catalina” and “Santa Teresa”.
The last 3 mentioned are already showing excellent acceptance by Chilean and international farmers.
María Fernanda Álvarez, coordinator of the Fruit Technology Consortium, highlighted the importance of the collaborative work between the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Corfo, Asoex and partner fruit companies.
The 4 new varieties were developed within the framework of the Corfo Project 16PTECFS-6664 and named in honor of 4 Chilean farmers, thus paying homage and recognition to the committed work of the Aysén Region.
