Good quality harvest for Canada where producers will be in good position to cope with demands of Europe and Russia.
Perspectives of the potatoes sector seem to indicate that the production in Europe will be in decline from 15 to 20 % and the Russian demand in increase.
The Canadian production will strongly increase.
Potatoes New Brunswick Chairman is impressed with the very good quality of the crop and the yield.
The dry spell in August and September only affected some parts of the province reducing the size of potatoes.
But “most of the producers are pleased” with the type and the quality of potatoes.
There are no storage problems.
The President of Potatoes New Brunswick indicated that Canadian producers are in a better position this year than they have been in the last few years. The production problems in Europe, Russia and the Americas could benefit growers.
