ENZA Gold kiwifruit seems to resist to disease

The kiwifruit orchards are destroyed by the PSA-V disease in the region of Te Puke.

Te Puke is the region the most affected by the disease, the orchards "Hort 16A " (Zespri Gold) are affected by the disease. The last census counted 856 affected orchards.

In the affected area, producers have two varieties (Zespri Gold and ENZA Gold), side by side. While the variety Zespri Gold is affected by the disease, the ENZA Gold variety does not show any problems. The harvest should complied with forecasts.

Producers say that it is necessary to spread the risk and invest in several varieties to ensure biodiversity.
