After Amazon Go, the small stores that sell sandwiches and drinks in a few large American cities, here is Amazon Go Grocery, a 1000 m² supermarket that has just opened in Seattle.
This Amazon Go Grocery uses the same principles as the small Amazon Go. The customer enters by scanning the dedicated application, the multiple cameras recognize the purchases, the invoice is addressed and debited to the customer via the application as soon as he leaves the store.
Small stores occupy a few dozen square meters, but the new Amazon Go Grocery covers 1,000 square meters and offers a similar assortment to a conventional supermarket. Over 5000 references including a wide range of fresh products, including prepackaged meats and fish, fresh fruits and vegetables.
Amazon, with this new kind of point of sale, intends to offer a complementary sign to conventional supermarkets while meeting new consumer expectations. But the supermarket will not prepare online orders, which will continue to be handled by a specific structure.
