Switzerland had negotiated several agreements with the United Kingdom to maintain trade without interruption. Among these agreements, the one concerning trade in organic products.
Since January 1, 2021, a series of new agreements that Switzerland has negotiated with the United Kingdom have entered into force. One of these agreements concerns the regulations governing the trade of organic products between the two countries.
Under this agreement, the UK continues to recognize Swiss legislation on organic farming as equivalent. Switzerland recognizes 8 certification bodies authorized to certify British organic products as organic within the meaning of European legislation on organic farming.
This bioequivalence agreement is valid until 31.12.2022 and should then be converted into a long-term solution.
