India exported 36,888 tons of grapes in 2012 and plans to enter two new markets.
In order not to rely on European demand, India has sought new markets for grape exports.
For the 2013 season, India is planning to open 2 new markets for the export of grapes: New Zealand and Canada. These two countries could import about 18,000 tons of grapes from India.
The APEDA (Agricultural & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority) began to
seek new markets after German rejection. In 2010 Germany refused Indian exports due to traces of pesticides. Indian shipments resumed in 2012 (info from our 03/07/2012).
During the 2012 season (January-May) India exported 36,888 tons of grapes, representing an increase of 63.47% compared to the previous season.
