The wheat harvest increases by 35%

Sanliurfa in the southeast of Turkey, is 3rd most growing areas of cereals and legumes.
It represents 8% of the total production of Turkish wheat, 12% barley and 36% of lenses on an area of 6,393,000 hectares.
Bad weather conditions in 2014 had a disastrous effect on wheat production , which declined by 30%. This year the rains have been extremely beneficial and according to estimates by the Chamber of Agricultural Engineers Sanliurfa , an increase of at least 35% is expected.
Farmers , however, are warned to pay particular attention to wheat diseases such as rust and they are advised to take the necessary steps to avoid them.
