A recent report, according to Food and Beverage Market Research, estimates that the Japanese organic food market generated a total revenues of $ 1,191.3 million in 2016. This represents an annual growth rate of 3% between 2012 and 2016.

 

 

 

The Fruit & Vegetable segment was the most lucrative segment of the market in 2016, with total revenues of $ 382.9 million, or 32.14% of the overall market value.

 

 

 

This performance of organic foods becomes even more important when Japan's demographics are taken into account. The country has been declining for several years (126.7 million inhabitants in 2016), and has one of the lowest birth rates in the world.
