2018/19 season shows constant increase in Ukrainian export of vegetables to Europe

According to experts, the Ukrainian export to Europe of vegetables is actively increasing. In total, in the first five months of the 2018/19 season, 26.3 thousand tons of vegetables were exported, compared with 12.3 thousand tons during the same period of the previous season.

The most sharply during this period increased exports of onions according to experts analysis, from 1.7 to 13.0 thousand tons, in 7.7 times. The export of white cabbage also increased quite sharply, in 3 times. The export of carrots and beets increased by 45% and the export of potatoes increased by 15%.

“TD “Kalynivka” delivers fresh fruits and vegetables to the market for more than 20 years.  The basis of the assortment is the “borsch set”, which includes beet, carrot, onion and cabbage except potatoes. Company has also greenhouse for tomatoes and cucumbers.

 “Experts call the summer drought in most EU countries the main reason for the growth of exports of “borscht set” vegetables, which led to a decrease in vegetable production in these countries and high prices for them”- explains Sergey Nalbat, , Import-Export manager of the Company. “Our company also plans to develop and strengthen its position in the European market, especially in the Baltic countries and Eastern Europe. We plan to grow the new varieties open-air vegetables in 2019: carrot varieties Abaco, Shantane, Morelia, Nantes, Yellowstone, Dragon, as well as canola beans of Akelo, onions, cabbage and others”- continues  Sergii Nalbat.

Strengthening position at the European market will be insured by such steps launched by Kalynivka, namely: building new warehouse for storage of open ground fruits and vegetables with an area of 3,6 thousand square meters in the south of Ukraine; construction of a line for washing, drying and packaging of tomatoes; conducting certification according to GMP (Good manufacturing  Practice) and BRC (The British retail Consortium Food Technical Standard);  development of HoReCa direction providing a professional service and products.
