The first Asian country to export bananas to the United States

The first loading of bananas from the Philippines arrived in the Port of Long Beach (Los Angeles) in California it is already few days.

This first shipment makes the Philippines the first Asian country to export bananas to the United States, announced the Embassy of Philippines in Washington. This shipment arrives almost 8 years after the first request for access to the U.S. market. These 1st bananas of  Philippines (7,047 tons) were sent by Dole Philippines to Dole Food Company Inc. and will be distributed in the United States under the brand Sweetio.

PBGEA (Philippine Banana Growers and Exporters Association) hopes to export 250,000 boxes of bananas per year in the U.S. market. The list of foreign markets grows, the United States rejoines Japan, Hong Kong, New Zealand, South Korea, China, Singapore, the Middle East, Canada, Russia and Indonesia.
