Mango producers in the Ancash region, the second largest exporter of mango in Peru, after Piura, began the season with a projection of exporting more than 32,719 tons of fruit, the same volume as in the 2022 season. The export season of mango in Ancash takes place from January to May.
At the season's official launch ceremony, held last week, Nely Wilcas, the executive director of the National Agrarian Health Service (Senasa) in Áncash, commented that the focus of the campaign will be the articulation of efforts to eradicate the fruit fly to improve phytosanitary conditions and continue to attract more small producers in the agro-export chain. She specified that in 2023, Senasa will certify around 5,187 hectares of said fruit.
