World cherry production up 13 percent
World cherry production is forecast at 2.3 million metric tons (MMT), up 13 percent due to good fruit set and favorable weather conditions in the United States and Turkey.
These two countries comprise nearly half of global production.
World exports, forecast at 221,000 MT, are up 27 percent.
Exports are expected to surge from the United States and Turkey due to larger exportable supplies and strong demand from Canada and the European Union.
Around 10 percent of world production is exported.
