CERADINI: "The yellow kiwis are more adapted to Asian markets"
The Veronese grower Ceradini from North Italy has been exhibiting in Asia Fruit Logistica for the 6th year now.
Met in Hong-Kong, Mrs. Cristina Stamate, Export Manager comments:
“We are very satisfied with the quality of visitors. We are meeting buyers from all Asian countries, and from Americas, Canada… This is a great show.”
CERADINI produces 20.000 tons of Kiwis from October until May. The brand is “King Fruit” and the varieties are mainly Hayward and Sorelli for the gold kiwi with the yellow color.
“Last season, we even produced kiwis until July! The yellow variety meets a growing success. It s a sweeter kiwi, also more gentle and more trendy. It is more adapted to Asian consumers’ taste“
Adds Mrs. Stamate.
“We have also planted the Red Kiwis that should be available in 2018. We believe this kiwi will get a great success, as color brings a more-contrasted produce. This will enable chefs to use different colors for plate’s presentation.”
Concerning forecasts for next season, Cristina anticipates a similar volume of kiwis with a good quality.
Apart from kiwis, CERADINI also produces strawberry for European markets. Strawberries are grown off-soil at an altitude of 1150 meters high. This enables strawberries to be ready for a period July to October.
