Murcia predicts a grape harvest increased by 16%

Anticipation of harvest 2013 increase in the region of Murcia.
The Ministry of Agriculture estimated the harvest of table grapes to 146 121 tonnes, an increase of 16% compared to last year. The increase in production is mainly registered in seedless varieties (+26%) and Red Globe (+13%). Stable production for Napoleon and Dominga varieties, expected decline by 18% for Italia variety because of the small acreage.
In 2012, the Murcia region was the largest producer of table grapes, with 125 910 tonnes, representing 53% of national production, followed by Alicante (34%) and Andalusia (7%).
The Murcia region exported in 2012 a total of 69,572 tons of table grapes. Its main customers are the countries of the European Union, the United Kingdom, Germany and the Netherlands represented 84% of its exports.
