Cosmic Crisp® Apple sales start in time for the Thanksgiving holiday
This year, the Cosmic Crisp® apple will be available for purchase in the supermarkets from November 8th, in time for the Thanksgiving holiday. Thanks to warm weather and maturing trees, fruit will be harvested and shipped earlier than previous release dates of early December.
The brand attracts consumers and retailers through various promotional activities: editorial coverage, events, influencer marketing, and partnerships.
The Cosmic Crisp® apple was already mentioned in several recipes in last editions of Gardens Magazine and Better Homes, which has contributed to boosting brand awareness.
Hype for the Washington State apple will start in October when culinary experts and food media will get acquainted with Cosmic Crisp® at the International Association of Culinary Professionals event in Birmingham, Alabama.
In November, the apple will appear in Origin Magazine and on the cover of Woman's Day Magazine. Also in collaboration with Meredith Media comes print advertising with holiday recipes and decor in the December issues of Martha Stewart Living, Better Homes, and Gardens Magazines. Additional holiday content, consumer giveaways, social media promotions will come through alignment with lifestyle experts in baking and interior design.
Before the apple’s November arrival, the brand invites everyone to test top selling 2 Towns Ciderhouse Cosmic Crisp® Imperial Cider in supermarkets. Since its launch last year, the hard cider has earned great reviews and production has jumped to meet market demand. Retail points can be found on the 2 Town’s website. Soon the brand will launch Tree Top Cosmic Crisp® Apple Juice, Crunch Pak Cosmic Crisp® Sliced Apples and Cosmic Crisp® Tree Top Apple Slices.
According to Kathryn Grandy, Chief Marketing Officer of Proprietary Variety Management, the company who markets Cosmic Crisp®, said that they work to guarantee that consumers have plenty of reasons to buy more Cosmic Crisp® apples in the Fall/Winter season, as the crop’s volume is high.
Washington State growers licensed to cultivate the Cosmic Crisp® are projecting to supply 5 million boxes of apples across the U.S during the campaign, which is considered to be a whole year. This is impressive for an apple which has only been on the market for 12 months since its early launch in 2019.
Grandy commented that they are proud of their Washington State growers who have shown such dedication to the success of the Cosmic Crisp® brand. It is a great contribution on everyone’s part. Growing the category means they need to inspire consumers to boost consumption and live up to their commitment to quality.
The Cosmic Crisp® brand apple is the result of 20 years of research and study by Washington State University’s tree fruit breeding program. Classically bred and cultivated in Washington State, the Cosmic Crisp® is a cross of the Honeycrisp and Enterprise varieties. The juicy, large, and red apple has a balanced flavor and firm texture. It is perfect for cooking, baking, snacking, and entertaining.
