The vessel, containing 158 tonnes of Zespri SunGold kiwifruit and 2,231 tonnes of Zespri Green kiwifruit, is expected to reach Tokyo by the end of the month. The last expeditions of the season due to end in the next few weeks.

This season has been complicated and difficult, according to Alastair Hulbert, Zespri's Global Sourcing Director. With container shortages and closures or congestion of a number of ports, but the efforts of the whole industry, the support of partners and the new maritime routes put in place have made it possible to avoid a large part of these problems.
