Generous in its round shape and fleshy pods, Lomagne's white garlic is also distinguished by its full-bodied and fragrant taste.
In 2008, white garlic from Lomagne obtained a PGI (Protected Geographical Indication), the recognition of a quality linked to a unique terroir.
The area of production of white garlic Lomagne IGP extends over 200 municipalities spread over 2 departments (Gers, Tarn-et-Garonne). The white garlic of Lomagne IGP is in the form of generous bulbs, with a caliber greater than 45 mm. Its round pods are pearly white. Caliber and presentation are selection criteria certified by the specifications of the PGI.
The 2018 crop has just started. It is followed by a drying period that lasts 4 to 5 weeks and precedes the peeling, an intervention during which the producers cut the roots flush with the tray and manually remove one or more external films in order to reveal white intact bulbs. From the starts of the commercial season, as of the end of July.
