Canada is the 7th largest importer of grapes in the world. In 2016 the country imported fresh grapes for an estimated value of 430 million USD.
Good news for Egyptian producers and exporters of fresh grapes, after more than a year of negotiations, Canada has given the green light for the entry of fresh grapes from Egypt.
Trade and Industry Minister Tarek Kabil announced that the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is providing Canadian market access for Egyptian grapes. The Canadian decision comes after lengthy negotiations that lasted more than a year.
This opening of the Canadian market will help to increase Egyptian exports. A mission of Egyptian professionals will be organized to meet the major retail chains in February 2018 and promote the next season of grapes.
