Origine Cévennes, the cooperative of small producers of sweet onion from the Cévennes
The cooperative Origine beat its 2,230 tons of onions sold last season, a significant increase compared to 1,800 tons the previous season.
Sweet Onion from the Cevennes region in France will be harvested mid-August. After thorough preparation of terraces, farmers will begin
planting in May and the harvest in July.
The sweet onion was the first in Europe to have AOC certification since October 2003 and a PDO (protected designation of origin) since July 2008.
