Peru negotiates new Asian destinations for its mangoes

Japanese consumers value the flavor and are willing to pay for the quality of Peruvian mangoes.
Peruvian mangoes are beginning to make their way into Japan, a demanding but high value-added market, according to a Peruvian media report.
After participating in the FOODEX fair in Tokyo, Peruvian companies are confident that this step will strengthen their presence in Asia and consolidate the perception of quality they already have among Japanese consumers.
The Mango Producers and Exporters Association (APEM) stresses that the Japanese market is key to its commercial expansion plan. The priority now is to improve distribution channels and take advantage of the growing interest in a product that is highly valued - and well paid - in Japan.
Asian interest does not stop there. There are also opportunities in South Korea and India, where a trade agreement is being negotiated that could open new doors for Peruvian agriculture and, in particular, for mangoes.
