Perlim exports 60% of its production and has invested in its plant in Saint-Aulaire to remain competitive.
The cooperative Perlim has invested €6 million on its site in Saint-Aulaire (19) in order to remain competitive and meet the requirements of international markets. The cooperative wants to control its production at its orchards as well as expedition, to provide consumers safe and quality products.
Perlim sends 60% of its export of apples on criteria that are different from those of French consumers. Apples are
sorted according to size, color and the quality of their skin. The capacity is 3,200 units per minute with 40 images captured of each apple by two rows of colour cameras and an infrared camera. This identification allows the company to precisely meet customer specifications.
Perlim includes 200 members, which produce 72,000 t. of apples and 3500 t of nuts.
