Higher prices are supporting export earnings even as shipment volumes soften in the opening months of the year.
Peru exported USD 4.57 million worth of oregano in the first two months of 2026, a 4% increase in value compared with the same period in 2025, according to Agrodata.
However, export volumes moved in the opposite direction. Shipments totalled 1.34 million kilos in January-February 2026, representing an 11% decline year on year. At the same time, the average export price rose to USD 3.41 per kilo, up 17% from the previous year, indicating stronger unit values despite reduced supply.
In February alone, oregano exports reached USD 2.13 million and 651,882 kilos, with an average price of USD 3.27 per kilo. This compares with USD 2.10 million and 797,069 kilos shipped in February 2025.
Market distribution data show that Spain remained the leading destination for Peruvian oregano in early 2026, accounting for 30% of export value. It was followed by Brazil with 23%, Chile with 14%, and Germany with 11%. Other markets collectively represented 18% of shipments.
