Food consumption during Ramadan increases.
Month of fasting, Ramadan, however, is a time when food consumption explodes. Everywhere additional food purchases are recorded. Families buy for the holidays between parents, friends and neighbors but also for charity and feeding the poor.
A director of a hypermarket chain Lulu believes that the demand for food products rises, in some cases amounting up to 200%.
Paradoxical situation for a period when people have to fast for 15 hours per day, which should reduce food consumption by 2/3. Food security becomes a challenge in the Islamic world as a whole.
