Are we going to a "Guacamole-apocalypse"? Social networks and the Internet are catching on.
If President Trump sets up his project to tax 20% of imports, guacamole which is the favorite snack of Americans during the Super Bowl will be significantly more expensive.
Avocados, the base of guacamole, is one of the Mexican products that Americans buy the most. Thus in 2014 Mexican avocados accounted for 60% of consumed avocados in the United States. Mexican avocados (400.9 million pounds) represent 16 times more volume than Californian avocados (24.9 million pounds), one of the US states producing the most.
Guacamole has become one of the most popular dishes in the United States. One remembers the debates on the exact recipe for guacamole where even President Obama intervened.
For years now guacamole is the favorite snack of millions of Americans who follow the Super Bowl on television.
