Bangladesh's fruit production is insufficient to meet domestic demand, imports have increased considerably in recent years and continue to grow.

National fruit production can satisfy only 30% of the annual demand. The country produces only a limited range of fruits (mango, banana, guava, pineapple, watermelon, papaya ...) while consumers are now demanding more diversified products.
