Panamanian export sector continues to increase

In the first 2 months of 2022, watermelon positioned itself as a leading export fruit, constituting 33.6% of the total, followed by bananas, pineapples and melons.
According to Eric Dormoi, National Director of Export Promotion of the Ministry of Commerce and Industries (MICI), in the first two months of 2022, agribusiness grew 53%, the industrial sector increased 21%, the agricultural sector that includes fruits, vegetables and beef increased 24%, while seafood products increased 8%.
Watermelon positioned itself as a leading export fruit, constituting 33.6% of the total, followed by bananas, pineapples and melons, and from now on, Dormoi comments, they will continue to strengthen exports of these fruits.
