The 2020 pear harvesting is completed in Washington’s Wenatchee and Yakima districts and in Mid-Columbia, Medford districts of Oregon. Pear Bureau Northwest (PBNW) launched flavor experience videos, which highlight Northwest pear growers in their orchards. Since many consumers are interested in learning where their products come from. PBNV in this new video series showcases the people and places that make the Northwest pear industry so special.
Neil Ferguson, Creative Marketing Manager of PBNW, said their producers love what they do and they really care about growing the best quality fruit they can. “I think it’s a testament to that quality when you have growers who happily eat what they grow. Who better to create consumer excitement and teach consumers about pears than pear growers?”

Jeff Correa, International Marketing Director of PBNW, shares with Fructidor an updated estimate of the pear crop. “Crop is estimated to be small, similar to last years. Around 16.2 million standard boxes (1 box = 18 kg). Same sizes as last year.” Jeff adds that pears look very clean this season, he says it is one of the cleanest crops for last years. Pears have grown in good weather conditions, so even after storage quality will be high.
USA pears are sold in US and are shipped to Canada, Mexico, South and Central America, Brazil, Colombia, India, Middle East, Vietnam, Indonesia, Hong Kong, South East Asia etc.
The Pear Bureau Northwest was established in 1931 as a non-profit marketing organization to promote, advertise and develop markets for fresh pears grown in Washington and Oregon. Pears from these two Northwest states are distributed under the USA Pears brand.
