The disease will not cause an adverse effect on next year's harvest which is expected to increase.
Despite concerns about the PSA disease that extends into the orchards, New Zealand could produce a large crop of kiwifruit next year.
According to The New Zealand Herald, there is no sign that there will be a negative effect on the harvest of next year.
About 1% of orchards have been tested positive for PSA that is less than the normal seasonal variations; professionals still expect a strong kiwifruit production.
The production of next year could well exceed the previous production, if weather conditions remain good.
In 2009-10, the New Zealand production was 98.5 million trays.
The number of infected orchards stands at 61.
