Peru turmeric exports edge down slightly in early 2026

The Netherlands accounts for more than half of Peru’s turmeric export value.
Peru exported 1,507,909 kilos of turmeric worth $2,699,797 between January and March 2026, showing a 1% increase in volume but a 2% decline in value compared with the same period in 2025, according to Agrodata. In the first quarter of 2025, exports totalled 1,570,713 kilos valued at $2,957,438.
The average export price in early 2026 fell to $1.79 per kilo, down from $1.85 per kilo a year earlier, reflecting weaker unit returns despite slightly higher shipment volumes.
Exports increased steadily during the quarter. In January 2026, Peru shipped 321,870 kilos worth $628,978 at an average price of $1.95 per kilo. February exports reached 425,970 kilos valued at $811,499, with an average price of $1.91 per kilo. March recorded the highest monthly shipments, totalling 760,068 kilos worth $1,259,320, while the average price declined to $1.66 per kilo, compared with $1.70 per kilo in March 2025.
Market distribution data show the Netherlands remained the key destination for Peruvian turmeric in 2026, accounting for $1,434,950, or 53% of total export value. Canada followed with $422,002 (16%), while Spain received $269,667 (10%). Other markets included Mexico with $137,837 (5%), Chile with $100,559 (4%), and Argentina with $44,850 (2%). Remaining destinations together accounted for $289,932, representing 11% of exports.
