Direct service from Panama's Port of Paracas for citrus and avocado campaign in southern Peru
VU
Starting from June 4, Maersk will introduce a new service in the Port of Paracas to cater to the citrus and avocado campaign in the southern region of Peru, utilizing the vessel named Maersk Bali.
This will be the first time the Danish shipping company offers a direct service to its Hub Port in Balboa, Panama, without making a stop at the Port of Callao. By bypassing Callao, Maersk enables a competitive transit time of 14 days to the port of Philadelphia in the United States, as well as 19 days to Antwerp in Belgium. This creates an excellent connection to both the US East and West Coast ports, along with direct service to Northern Europe.
The new service will be complemented by the Peru Feeder, a service that links the port of Balboa with Pisco. This feeder service will continue its journey to Callao, Paita, and then return to Balboa. As part of its expansion efforts, the Peru Feeder will also arrive at the Port of Paracas on a weekly basis. These enhancements aim to meet the increasing demand and provide competitive transit times, as reported by the Port of Paracas.
The statement from the Port of Paracas highlights the consistent growth in export volumes of citrus and avocados in the southern region. Over the past few years, these volumes have been steadily increasing at an average rate of 15%. The introduction of these new maritime services through the Port of Paracas will enable agro-exporters to meet this growing demand with more competitive products in terms of both price and quality.
