Pistachio production could increase by three

Nestle and the Turkish Foundation TEMA, collaborating on a project to increase production and quality of pistachio in provinces of the southeast.
The project is estimated at 1.5 million, it will cover areas of Gaziantep, Sanliurfa and Adiyaman. Planting of 10,000 fruit trees is planned. The average yield is 3 kg per tree. The project aims to triple output over the next 5 years.
World production is about 550,000 tons. Iran is the No. 1 producer with 222,000 tons, followed by the United States with 130,000 tons and 102,000 tons with Turkey.
With the implementation of this project which provides modern, efficient and sustainable method, Turkey has a potential of 4 to 5 times its current production.
