Expected increase in fruit exports to Russia

Pomegranate is one of the leading fruits of Afghan exports, which includes fresh fruits (about 10,000 tons / year), dried fruits (about 2,000 tons), vegetables (7,000 tons) and medicinal plants (1,000 tons).
Afghanistan potential exports represents 1 million tonnes of fruits according to the Chamber of Commerce which announced its intention to increase its exports to Russia in the near future.
According to the Chamber of Commerce, following resolutions such as lack of export platforms, lack of direct rail lines through increased cooperation with neighboring countries (Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan), the country would be able to increase considerably its expeditions to Russia. Oranges, pomegranates, apples but also various vegetables that could total up to 1 million tons of exported products.
In recent years the country's economy is beginning to show positive signs. The export of agricultural products is booming. Fruits and nuts accounted for about 95% of Afghan imports in Russia, amounting to US $ 5.9 million in 2016.
