Walgreens will sell fruit and vegetables in 300 to 500 of its 7,600 stores.
The largest chain of drugstores-pharmacies in the United States will add fresh produce to its offer.
Walgreens Co operates 7,600 drugstores-pharmacies. The company operates in 50 states and Puerto Rico.
In the Chicago area, where grocery stores are hard to find, Walgreens had already added fruit and vegetables and meat in 10 stores.
Walgreens now wants to expand these types of stores and plans to add fresh foods in 300 to 500 stores across the country.
Walgreens wants to position itself as a one-stop shop for daily needs, health and nutrition.
