Noni could give a boom for the Pacific islands, as the plant traditionally used for its medicinal qualities is exported to China.
A Chinese entrepreneur, Jack Chen, has reached an agreement to import millions of gallons of noni juice from Samoa to China via a company overseen by former rugby player and All Black Michael Jones. Noni is processed and mixed with other fruits such as pears and oranges to create an energy drink that is very nutritious

The contract is to export 800,000 liters of juice by January, then 3 million litres next year, and 5 million litres in 2013. To honor this contract, the company plans to expand its suppliers in Samoa and the Cook Islands.
The objective in China is to reach the 300 million middle class who are looking for products with high added value for medical or well-being.
