Export to the Middle East (Qatar, Lebanon) for these dates from Australia
Off-season fruit on the Middle East markets, Australian dates began to be exported to Qatar and Lebanon.
THE DESERT FRUIT COMPANY has just exported Yellow Khalal dates from the Barhi variety in Qatar and Lebanon. The variety Barhi is one of the few that can be consumed in the state of maturation "Khalal". Dates have roughly five stages of ripening, most consumers eat them at the "Rutab" and "Tamar" stage or when they are brown.
Yellow dates are very popular in the Middle East and these Australian yellow dates are even more popular because they come off-season from local fruits in these northern hemisphere markets.
The company also produces other varieties of dates (Bajool, Brown Barhi, Deglet Noor, Thoory, Khadrawy, Zahidis) which are marketed in the Australian market and plans to increase its international sales and export to more countries.
