Africa in focus at the 6th Morocco Berry Conference 2025
PE | Green Smile
In recent years, Africa has emerged as one of the most promising continents in the global berry industry. Morocco’s regional leadership will be discussed in Agadir November 13th.
As the global demand for berries continues to rise, Africa is positioning itself as a key supplier, not just for regional markets, but for Europe, Asia, and beyond. With its favorable climates, rapidly expanding acreage, and a wave of innovation and investment, the continent is stepping into a new era of agricultural growth and collaboration. Within this context the 6th Morocco Berry Conference 2025, to be held on November 13, 2025, at the Palais des Congrès Les Dunes d’Or (Agadir), has chosen to dedicate its central theme to “African Berries.”
A strategic and sustainable opportunity
In less than two decades Morocco started to lead as African blueberry exporter. The country shipped 82,000 tons in 2025, followed by South Africa with 25,000 tons. Egypt enters the market, while Zimbabwe rises fast. The rise of African berries is not only a commercial story, it’s also one of sustainability, innovation, and regional cooperation. Producers are increasingly adopting advanced irrigation systems, soil monitoring, and genetic improvements to ensure quality and efficiency. These innovations, once concentrated in Europe and the Americas, are now flourishing in Africa, driven by local expertise and international partnerships.
A regional and global supplier
The Morocco Berry Conference 2025 will bring together experts, researchers, and industry leaders from across the continent and beyond to discuss the key challenges and opportunities of this transformation. Topics such as production technologies, genetics, market diversification, and African cooperation will be at the heart of the sessions.
A Continental Vision
The choice of “African Berries” as the theme of this year’s conference reflects a deeper vision: that of a united and forward-looking Africa, capable of transforming its agricultural potential into long-term economic and social impact. By connecting Morocco, South Africa, Egypt, Zimbabwe, and other emerging producers, the event aims to encourage dialogue and synergy between the different ecosystems shaping the future of berry production in Africa. As Agadir prepares to welcome participants from around the world, the conference will not only be a place for learning and networking, it will be a celebration of Africa’s unity, growth, and ambition through berries.
