The disease affects a new area

Bacterial disease Psa-V that affects kiwifruit in New Zealand has just appeared in a new region.
According to newsletters KVH (Kiwifruit Vine Health) following progressions of Psa-V, the disease has been discovered in an orchard in Kumeu, Auckland-Northwest region. This area thought to be free of the disease, sheltering only a hundred hectares of kiwifruit.
Starting from infected orchard, controlled 10 km radius zone was set up and cover other orchards. The disease was detected in an early form, according to the producers, which gives a chance to contain a single orchard.
First detected in the region of Te Puke, the disease has spread to Bay of Plenty, Waikato, Franklin District, Coromandel and now Kumeu. The latest newsletter of 2307 now states that KVH orchards were identified with Psa-V.
