Warm weather in February in Ukraine threatens good yield of apples, pears and other stone fruits
Due to forecasts of Ukrainian producers, warm weather in February 2013 won’t spoil yield of apples, pears and other stone fruits during coming season.
All the gardens have made it through the winter quite well. According to observations of local farmers, in spite of high temperatures in South regions of the country (up to 18 C) there is no flow of sap inside the trees at this moment.
Gardens are expected to bear blossom at usual period of the season. At the same time, there is a danger of frosts in May. During last several years, May cold weather has remarkably decreased yield of apples, pears and other stone fruits in Ukraine. In case of rather favorable weather conditions Ukrainian producers hope to get high quality fruits this season.
