Red kiwi is one of the nominees for the Fruit Logistica Innovation award 2019

The top award for the fresh produce industry will be presented on 8 February 2019 in Berlin. More than 77,000 trade visitors from over 130 countries will have a chance on 6 & 7 February 2019 to vote for the innovation of the year.

This year was first for Jingold to have good quantities for Oriental Red kiwi. Though novelty kiwis have been already sold for 2018, for next years company plans to increase volumes.

“The Donghong variety stems from a process of research and improvement of the pre-existing red kiwifruit variety. It features a golden yellow flesh with red veins and a pleasant aroma”, - shares marketing and sales manager Moreno Armuzzi.

It is originally from China with unique organoleptic characteristics that are significantly different from those of traditional Hayward kiwi. It has sweetness with 20 to 21 degrees Brix and a tropical exotic aftertaste. The Red Kiwifruit has an excellent shelf life: more than 5 months in the fridge or around 7 days at room temperature.
