El Niño two digits impact on tropical crops

There is no more doubt that El Niño is forming within one month and persisting through the 2026-27 Northern Hemisphere winter at near-certain impacting level. As shown on the graph with palm oil and rice, El Niño can affect tropical crops a two digits levels on countries with major tropical crops. El Niño 2015-2016 reduced by 13% the palm oil output and -15% its shipments of its two major producing countries Malaysia and Indonesia. India rice exports reducted by 21% and its production by 2,8% during El Niño 2023-2024.
