Bad weather conditions including hailstorms affected several regions of the country. Harvests have started but professionals anticipate a significant reduction in the production of mandarins.
Nationwide, mandarin production should be reduced by around 30 to 40%. Depending on the areas, the losses compared to last year could reach 30 to 40% in the areas of Neochori (Theassalie) and Arta (Epirus) and even 50% in some areas of Thesprotia (Epirus).
According to Greek professionals, the areas which were not affected by the hail have a production considered good and the fruits are of high quality, which is positive for the marketing campaign.
