San Martín region of Peru will increase its area cultivated with Tahiti lemon
VU
By 2022, the San Martín region of Peru will increase its area planted with Tahiti lemon destined for export to around 2,000 hectares. The area will be managed by more than 1000 producer families.
Today, the region has 549 hectares of this crop, and 856 new hectares will be installed in the coming weeks.
This was achieved thanks to the initiative promoted by the Regional Government of San Martín, through the Special Project Huallaga Central and Bajo Mayo (PEHCBM), and the office for the promotion of sustainable private investment (OPIPS), through agreements between independent producers of San Martín and thirty provincial and district municipalities.
The objective of this agreement is to direct, accompany, link and socialize the Tahiti lemon project, with producers from different provinces of the region, of which the Directorate of Agricultural Development is in charge.
The Regional Government of San Martín encourages and supports the activities of the agricultural sector with the articulation of the market, in the form of a public-private alliance, in order to develop agribusiness.
