Bananas of the Canary recognized PGI by the European Union.
Europe has recognized the Canary Banana as Protected Geographical Indication.
The Official Journal of the European Union issued IGP recognition regulations of Banana of the Canary. It is the only banana to obtain the European quality label.
Bananas produced in the Canary Islands are unique. While a regular banana remains three months on the plant, Banana Canary, because of climate variability islands, spends 6 months. Reaching an optimum degree of ripening and dark spots (specifications) on the skin. Maturity, aroma, flavor, high sugar but low in starch.
