Turkey-France: this Ro-Ro line can interest all the European carriers and generate a traffic of 20.000 trailers.
UND, federation of Turkish road hauliers, is going to inaugurate in April a regular maritime line between Turkey and France.
In Turkey, the port of embarkation will be the one of Tekirdag, situated near the Marmara Sea and the port of Toulon in France. The line will be twice-weekly until July then will pass in 3 departures a week.
Line Ro-Ro: from English Roll-On Roll-Off meaning literally "run inside, runs outside ", which makes the distinction with lo-lo (lift on-lift off), the vessels which use a crane to load and unload cargo.
The truck drivers will leave their trailers alongside the quay with the port of embarkation and will take the plane. First year, UND bank on a traffic from 20 to 21.000 trailers.
"This line concerns hauliers from France, Spain, England, Germany but also those of the Maghreb ", exploit Tan Actuna, Manager of “Worms Maritime Services”, who takes care of the line in Toulon.
