Evaluation of the Turkish olive oil from the season

According to information provided by the Aegean Union of Olives and Olive Oil Exporter, the 2015-2016 season, which began on the 1st of November 2015, ended on 31st of October 2016.
Compared to 2014-2016, exports fell by 14% in terms of quantity to nearly 13 000 tonnes, and by 16% in value to reach $ 55.6 million.
The main importing countries were the United States, with more than 3 000 tonnes and Saudi Arabia, with 1720 tonnes of olive oil exported.
Despite the general decline, exports to European Union countries increased by 51% to 1612 tonnes. Spain was the main buyer, followed very far by Germany and Italy.
Mr Mehmet Cavli, a member of the National Board of Olives and Olive Oil, said that last season had not lived up to the expectations of Turkish exporters. Sales recorded in the last two months, shows that next season should be very satisfactory, with an increase in domestic consumption Turkish.
