Woolworths plans to open 39 supermarkets in 2012
The largest supermarket chain in Australia, Woolworths has announced a major expansion plan.
Woolworhts plans to increase its number of its outlets from 73 to 117 in 2012. The expansion is expected to generate 10,000 new jobs and bring fresh food sales to total AUS $ 2.5 billion (1.8
billion euros).
This plan will require enormous efforts, says the CEO of the chain, but will be a prestigious victory over its main rival, Coles. Next year Wolworths with 39 new supermarkets will beat Coles and its 21 store openings made ??last year.
