Thursday 22 March 2012
Zespri forecasts production to gall 17% to 95 million trays, a far cry from 115 million trays harvested in 2011.
Kiwifruit production is expected to decline by 17%, according to estimates by Zespri, mainly due to PSA disease that struck New Zealand orchards.
Zespri forecasts that production this year will be close to a normal season, and estimated production to be at 95
million trays, a decrease of 17% from the 115 million trays harvested in 2011.
The green kiwi represents about three-quarters of the harvest, gold kiwi 21%, with organic and new varieties making up the rest.
